My second full length LP explores a mixture of pop, jazz, and retro / psych rock. The songs contrast simple pop forms with time and key signature shifting jams that keep things constantly in motion. Multiple layers of saturation were stacked throughout the recording and mixing process which resulted in a vintage sonic signature. All songs are original. Played all instruments, including percussion and vocals.
My first full length LP is a folk rock / pop project. I aimed to blend poignant and honest lyrics with organic and vast instrumentation. I used acoustic instruments such as mandolin and banjo to achieve a sort of eclectic warmth. I used mostly transparent microphones and processing. The record is all original material and self produced.
Howling Winds was a recording project where I covered old time folk. bluegrass, and country songs. Sonically I wanted to make something that sounded like a mix of a recording studio and an old country house. The mix prioritizes dynamic range and the performances of the instruments. I learned a lot about mastering during this project, trying to get the mix to translate to all systems without losing the softness and clarity of the tracks.
My self-titled debut album consists of four original songs consisting of a mixture of rock and Americana. It was recorded and written while I was developing my songwriting and playing in High School. I performed all tracks with the exception of percussion. Recording and mixing by Brock Alexander. Mixed and mastered by an outside studio.
